Catch the Travel Bug? 14 Travel Destinations You Won’t Want to Miss Out On!

Hello, Cowetans! It’s SUMMER TIME! The kids are out of school and that Georgia heat is coming on fast! You can tell in our office, because with 8 women working here, you see a lot of dresses coming out of the closets! We are too hot for anything different. One thing we didn’t expect, were these weeks of constant rain over Memorial Day weekend and continuing after! So if you’re like us, and trying to escape this rain for the time being, you’re at the right place! We are going to give you 7 ideas of places to go visit from seven of the wonder women on our team! Our favorite places to go on a vacation, local (within Georgia) and not so local (out of state, out of country, we’ve done it all!)

Anderson & Associates Favorite Vacation Spots: Local & Not So Local!

Chelsea

LOCAL | Georgia is so beautiful, I think it’s easy to forget that some of the most beautiful sights are within a couple of hours from where we live. My favorite Georgia places to visit within Georgia is Savannah. I love the combination of historic beauties and the laid back feeling you have when you walk down River Street.  Tybee Island is so close, too and I can’t resist the Crab Shack there!

INTERNATIONAL | I think I may be a little bias since I’m from Germany, but getting to travel back to Europe (and more specifically Germany) is one of my most loved adventures. The culture is so different there, that exploring that alone brings you to another world. They preserve so much of its history by keeping their cobblestoned roads, and the gorgeous churches and castles that live just outside some of Germany’s villages. It’s absolutely beautiful! I love the opportunity to get to talk about it!

LOCAL|Best Day Trip in State for me would be Downtown Roswell! Canton Street has great shops and restaurants! Can’t beat a margarita at Ceviche after a day of treasure hunting at the Antique Shop across the street.

NATIONAL|Being an East Coast girl makes San Francisco one of my favorite National destinations! The best Sourdough, Sushi and Shopping around! I LOVE walking through Pier 31 or hitting a game at the Giants stadium right on the Bay. My favorite Sushi place would have to be Sushi Umi. It’s a low key sushi house where you sit at the bar and there is a little boat that floats by and you can pick what you want off the boat! What a great place to visit, there’s a little something for everybody!

LOCAL | Within Georgia, the first thing that comes to mind is Barnsley Resort. Our team had an overnight Christmas trip there this past December. It had gorgeous ruins and hiking trails. They have an on site spa where you can get your nails done, massages, and facials. Our team enjoyed that a lot. There is an amazing restaurant within the community and as a team, it was a place great to go to with lots of people. Very relaxing and the cabins were so cozy!

NATIONAL | Charlotte is my favorite place outside of Georgia to visit. I think I’m bias because we have family that live there, but it’s really a great city. There a ton of dog friendly places and even dog bars that you can enjoy. They have amazing restaurants in NODA, but my favorite would have to be the Haberdish.. the chicken is to die for!

LOCAL | I grew up a Die Hard University of Georgia Fan and my daughter currently attends.  There is nothing better than a weekend with the Dawgs!!!  Athens is a great local destination whether it’s tailgating at Sanford Stadium, grabbing a bite to eat at The Blind Pig, or strolling the campus and downtown. There is a little something for everybody.  GO DAWGS!!!!

NATIONAL | One of my favorite vacation/destinations is St. Thomas, USVI.  My family loves cruising and this is one of the most beautiful ports with White Sandy Beaches and Crystal Clear Blue waters.

Amber

LOCAL | Well, Chelsea stole it away with Savannah – that is one of our favorite places to go for a mini-vacay! I really enjoy hiking though, so there are tons of beautiful places to hike in Georgia – especially the North Georgia Mountains. My favorite place to spend time hiking, fishing, and just being in the outdoors would have to be Ellijay! I actually have grandparents that live there with acreage and multiple small lakes – it is definitely my little happy place!

INTERNATIONAL | Internationally, I have travelled to England, Scotland, & Mexico. If you are a beach lover – Mexico is the place to go – I visited Cancun and it was wonderful. England is a little rainy and cold (depending on time of the year), but it’s history and architectural buildings make it feel like you have gone back in time and are in a different world. The country side is beautiful, but London is tons of fun!

Kaylee

LOCAL | Downtown Atlanta! I love having the city so close by. Some of my favorite things to do are just walk around exploring the area, because there is always something new to see. I love shopping Ponce City Market and Old Fourth Ward. The Beltline is amazing, too! If you’re looking for an amazing place to eat, Superica has the best carnitas and bacon wrapped shrimp that are to die for!

NATIONAL | 30A Beach is my favorite place to visit outside the state. The beach is wonderful and I love exploring downtown seaside and eating the Great Southern Café’s delicious gouda grits! The Hub is like the Ponce City Market of 30A, so naturally I love shopping and walking around there! I enjoy the live music and chill atmosphere there.

LOCAL | My husband and I love visiting the public lakes in Georgia, but one that’s really stuck with me is Lake Oconee. It’s just a beautiful, spacious perfect for a boat ride, fishing, and a little beer drinking! 🙂

NATIONAL | I can’t pick just one! The good thing is, mine are not too far out of Georgia’s borders. My favorite vacation destination is Destin. It is so family friendly, the beaches are so beautiful and clean, and there’s so much to do off and on the beach! If you’re in the area, check out Boathouse Oyster Bar on the Bay! It has amazing food and the live music makes for a good time! Charleston is my other go-to- the history there is something that can’t be imitated. I love the chill atmosphere there and all the restaurants!
